Meet Your Spanish Mentor – Living the Language, Teaching with Heart❤️

Hola! I’m Tanya, the face behind Spanish Steps : and your go-to guide for learning real, practical Spanish. I help you go from “Hola” to holding real conversations in Spanish (without crying over grammar books 😅🪭). So grab your café or chai and let me tell you a little story —

Originally from India, I followed my passion for languages all the way to León, Spain, where I earned my Master’s in Spanish. What started as a love for the language turned into a life fully immersed in Spanish culture — and now, I’m living it every day.

From ordering tapas in local cafés to chatting with native

speakers on the streets of Spain, this language isn’t just something I teach — it’s my lifestyle. Now, I’m living my best life here in Spain — sipping café con leche in sunny plazas, getting lost in weekend street markets, having full-on debates with my Spanish neighbors (all in Spanish, of course), and absorbing this beautiful culture in every possible way. I spend my days wandering cobblestone streets, soaking the Spanish sun, enjoying the waves and the playas, getting invited to spontaneous tapas nights, and learning slang you’ll never find in a textbook. I live the culture, I breathe the language, and I pour all of that into the way I teach. I’m not just teaching Spanish — I’m quite literally living it jaja!

After getting my Master’s in History, Art, and Culture of Spain (yes, I was that nerdy and proud ✨), I jumped straight into the Spanish-teaching world. I started teaching adults and company employees across Mexico, the U.S., and Spain — all from my little home office with a big cup of café con leche.

I’ve helped professionals speak Spanish for meetings, moves, and margaritas 🍹 (okay, maybe not officially, but hey — priorities). I even worked at translation events in Barcelona, where I got to flex my language skills in real-time and soak up more of Spain’s magical work life energy.

Now, I’m working permanently in Spain, living the language I teach and teaching the language I live. And trust me — it makes all the difference!

Why learn with me?? - I’ve seen what actually works (and what doesn’t)✨

Because I’m not giving you textbook Spanish — I’m giving you real, everyday Spanish straight from the streets, cafés, and conversations of Spain itself. I know you’re busy. I know traditional lessons can be boring or too rigid. That’s why my method is flexible, friendly, and focused on real-world Spanish — the kind you can use at the airport, on a Zoom call with a Spanish client, or while flirting in a Barcelona bar.

(hey, no judgment😉)

So whether you're in your pajamas at 2 AM or sneaking in a lesson during your lunch break — Spanish Steps is here for you. Let’s make Spanish feel less like a subject and more like an adventure.

Whether you're learning to travel, level up your career, or simply impress your Spanish-speaking in-laws — I’ve got you covered. Ready to take your first step? ¡Vamos!

Stick Around — The Fiesta’s Just Getting Started! 💃☕

And hey, this is just the beginning of the adventure! On this blog, I’ll be sharing more about my life in Spain — the good, the chaotic, and the delicious. I'll also be sharing all the little (and big!) similarities between India and Spain that keep blowing my mind — like how both cultures think lunch is a full-on event, or how “a little late” is basically the national motto in both places.

So if you're into language, culture, travel, food, or just curious how an Indian girl is living it up in Spain — stick around. I’ve got lots of stories, laughs, and Spanish secrets coming your way!

¡Nos vemos pronto! xo👋
